Juntoku International | Responsible Investment

Responsible Investment

We are combining proprietary ESG research and structured engagement to invest in accordance with the Juntoku International Principles of Responsible Investment and other responsible investing criteria.

Responsible Investing

We take environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects into account when evaluating investment opportunities and building the investment portfolios that we manage. We focus on ESG factors that we consider financially important in our discretionary decision-making processes, which we define as ESG risks or opportunities that are regarded likely to influence the issuer's financial performance over time. In addition, we provide proprietary portfolio design approaches to develop bespoke portfolios that reflect client concerns and goals as part of our responsible investing capabilities.

Juntoku International's investment affiliates each have their unique approach to responsible investing. At the corporate level, we bring value by facilitating cooperation in order to improve investment outcomes and broaden the range of responsible investing options accessible to our customers. Juntoku International aspires to be a pioneer in responsible investing, with a well-established investment team and financial experts committed to evaluating ESG concerns. To us, this entails acknowledging and accepting the fact that responsible investment is perceived differently by different individuals.

Juntoku International provides clients with a variety of responsible investment options that take use of the company’s unique strengths:

  • Investing in line with the Juntoku International principles of responsible investment and other responsible investing criteria by combining proprietary ESG research and structured involvement.
  • Specializing in the creation of bespoke portfolios that represent the particular client's responsible investing preferences.
  • Using Juntoku International's unique ESG research as part of the investing process, including important ESG elements into the basic examination of portfolio assets.
  • Integrating major ESG aspects into the development of client portfolios, thus providing versions of leading strategies that have been screened to avoid assets with the highest exposure to recognized adverse ESG impact.

Our Principles

Our principles serve as a framework for evaluating portfolio investments and guiding client stewardship through active engagement with issuers. The Juntoku International principles aim to identify issuers who follow or support the following principles:

  • Environmental sustainability and resource efficiency
  • Equitable societies and respect for human rights
  • Accountable governance and transparent operations

Juntoku International's investment approach includes organized engagement initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental and social results, as well as long-term shareholder value. Juntoku International has a dedicated team of engagement experts that utilize our research to identify financially meaningful opportunities where a change in an issuer's ESG strategy might help minimize risk or more effectively take advantage of opportunities. Juntoku International may assist customers in addressing financially relevant difficulties by engaging with securities issues.

Our Approach

Our responsible investment strategy aims to promote strong corporate governance standards that benefit investors while still delivering long-term returns. Juntoku International specializes in using ownership rights and specialist portfolio structuring to develop bespoke portfolios that represent customer values. The majority of Juntoku International's active ownership procedures revolve upon proxy voting. When we feel this effort is in the best interests of our investors and is consistent with our beliefs on corporate governance, Juntoku International may engage directly with firms on specific strategic objectives.

The Principles of Responsible Investing

Juntoku International is a corporate signatory of the Principles of Responsible Investing (PRI).

PRI is the world's foremost promoter for ethical investing. It aims to better understand the investing implications of ESG variables and to assist its global network of investor signatories in implementing these considerations into their investment and ownership decisions. The PRI works in the long-term interests of its membership, the financial markets and economies in which they operate, and, in the end, the environment and society as a whole.

The six Principles for Responsible Investing are a collection of voluntary and aspirational investing principles that provide a menu of options for incorporating ESG concerns into investment practice.

Signatories contribute to the development of a more sustainable global financial system by adopting the Principles for Responsible Investing:

Principle 1: We will incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.

Principle 2: We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.

Principle 3: We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.

Principle 4: We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.

Principle 5: We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.

Principle 6: We will each report on our activities and progress toward implementing the Principles.

Juntoku International understands that having a set of standards to lead the responsible investing community is important, and it fully endorses the PRI. Our ethical investment practices are reported to PRI regularly.
